About Riverbend Playschool
Riverbend Playschool is a non-profit, parent cooperative playschool in Edmonton that values play as an essential part of a child’s developing years. Geared towards 3 and 4 year old children, our program aims to start children off on a life-long love of learning. A part of the Riverbend community for over 35 years, Riverbend Playschool has been nurturing creativity, self-confidence and a lifelong love of learning.
Parent Involvement
Riverbend Playschool is a top choice for parents who wish to participate in their child’s early school experiences. Our playschool is “cooperative,” meaning that all parents play a role in the school’s operations. Our teachers and parents work together to enhance the children’s growth and development, and to provide a safe learning environment. The cooperative nature of our playschool is a key part of our school’s identity. The roles our parents may choose to play range from preparing crafts, to sorting toys, to participating on the executive. With so many different opportunities for involvement, there is something for everyone. Learn more about our parent roles in the play school.

DEI Statement
Riverbend Playschool is commited to ensuring our policies and practices promote a safe and inclusive climate for all students, families, and staff. We believe that when our students can see their families, customs, and uniqueness as welcome and valued, they are each able to develop a positive self-concept and a love for learning. We strive to embrace each child's individuality to create a respectful community in which all children have equal opportunities to learn and grow.
Land Acknowledgement
Riverbend Playschool acknowledges that the traditional land on which we reside is in Treaty Six Territory. We would like to thank the diverse Indigenous Peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries, such as nêhiyaw (Nay-hee-yow) / Cree, Dené (Deh-neyh), Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-in-ah-bay) / Saulteaux (So-toe), Nakota Isga (Na-koh-tah ee-ska) / Nakota Sioux (Na-koh-tah sue), and Niitsitapi (Nit-si-tahp-ee) / Blackfoot peoples. We also acknowledge this as the Métis’ (May-tee) homeland and the home of one of the largest communities of Inuit south of the 60th parallel. It is a welcoming place for all peoples who come from around the world to share Edmonton as a home. Together we call upon all of our collective, honoured traditions and spirits to work in building a great city for today and future generations.
